If you like the idea of competing in the ultimate sporting challenge then triathlon could be just the thing for you.

It's a combination of swimming, running and cycling and there are shorter distance races for the younger ones out there.


  • In triathlon, there are different age groups in which individual athletes will compete.

    Race groups are as follows 

    (The following are maximum race distances):

    Swim Cycle (Grass) Cycle (Tarmac) Run
    TriStar Start (8 Years) 50m 800m 1.5km 600m
    TriStar 1 (9 - 10 Years) 150m 2km 4km 1.2km
    TriStar 2 (11 - 12 Years) 200m 4km 6km 1.8km
    TriStar 3 (13 - 14 Years) 300m 6km 8km 2.4km

  • Ages for competition

     Age as of 31st December 2006. Example: John is 8 at the moment but will be 9 in August so he will be in Tristar 1!

    A few key facts about Tridents Triathlon Club:
    • History - formed in February 2003 and has grown into a club of more than 60 members.
    • Members - aged from eight to 18, from beginners to international standard
    • Training - sessions each week plus holiday training camps
    • Club members events - aquathlons, duathlons & triathlons throughout the year
    • Club Open events - Swindon Junior Aquathlon, Faringdon Junior Aquathlon
    • Open events - races across the southwest and the country  from sprint events to Ironman
    • Try-a-Tri - an annual event for novice triathletes
    • Social scene - under review.
    • Club kit - Navy with Red panels and white trim. A range of items are available for sale to club members.
    • Newsletter - news, race reports, training tips and some nonsense.
